Dear Morgan,

I am so excited to celebrate your birthday with you today. First...I have to make myself realize that you really are turning 9 years old today!! I know that we have been talking about this day for quite some time now...but I still can hardly believe that it is here. Seems like not too long ago you were just a peanut...so small and so quiet.

I want you to know that I love being your mom so much. I love how you wake up in the morning with perfect hair (not fair) and on most days you wake up with the sweetest smile that kinda makes me want to keep you home with me (sometimes we do that, huh?) I think that you have such a wonderful creative energy that reminds me of how how I feel about creating and crafting. I love when we come up with a new art project together and spend time picking out just the right ribbons or spend forever in the scrapbook store searching for the perfect paper. I have so much fun with you.

I love how you love me as your mom...you miss me on our weekends away from each other just as much as I miss you. I love watching you grow older and bigger...sometimes it's hard for me to accept the fact that you don't need my help as much with all of the little things...but I am just as excited about the fact that you are really learning to do things for yourself. I love when we snuggle up on the couch and share the same covers and talk and laugh... I hope that we are always close and always have fun giggling together about the silly stuff.

I love that you are sensitive and have such a sweet spirit about you...I was the same way when I was your age...in fact, I still kinda am that way. I love that you have such a strong love for all animals and you try daily to convince me and Mr. C to adopt something for you. I always tell Mr. C that I love how dramatic you can be...I really do love it (although, maybe we can work on stopping the slamming of your bedroom door when you are upset...this is an older home and the doors don't like to be slammed so much). (Thanks) I love that although you are now 9 years of age...you will still hold my hand when we walk side by side and you still insist (and so do I) on a goodnight hug an kiss every single night and when something isn't right in your world, you come to me first because you know I will do whatever it takes to make it better.

I love being your mom and I can't wait to see what living 9 years old is like with you. I'm sure it will be sweet and spicy just like you!
